FLETCHER PAKISTAN TREK 2017

Learning Through Experience

The first-ever Fletcher Pakistan Trek is an educational and cultural exchange between The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy School and the Pakistani people, with a goal to better understand the economic, cultural, and political situation of a country that is often misunderstood.

December 20-31, 2017

Mission

The purpose of the Fletcher Pakistan Trek is to strengthen ties between Pakistan and the United States by exposing the students of The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University to the realities of the country and its people through engagement in dialogue, experiential learning, community service and cultural experiences. Meetings with government officials, business leaders, nonprofit organizations, NGOs, and educational institutions will provide future leaders with firsthand opportunity to learn by immersion which will therefore play a critical role in building partnerships and fostering a long-term understanding of Pakistan in the global context.

Fletcher students are exposed to Pakistan through books often as a case study in diplomatic history, international security, and development economic courses.  Now, for the first time in the history of The Fletcher School, a delegation of 14 students will have the opportunity visit Islamabad and Lahore from December 20-31, 2017 and compare theory to practice. The leaders of the Trek have a deep desire to improve the image of Pakistan around the world, and are determined to make this trip a reality for their peers.

"Those who go to Pakistan are surprised by the level of hospitality and amount of love they receive." - Fletcher alum, PakistaniAmbassdor to the U.S. Aizaz Chaudhry
